Lets talk About That iMessage Ecosystem

One of Apple's core offerings is iMessage, its the glue that keeps some iPhone user's glued to their iPhones. iMessage as we all know is that familiar blue bubble which lets us send texts to other Apple users. iMessage was introduced in 2011 and has since then exploded in popularity with iMessage handling about 40 billion messages in a day in 2014  up from about 2 billion in January of 2013 Now thats an interesting statistic. Why Do I Like iMessage So Much? Back in the pre iOS 10 days I loved iMessage for its simplicity, it was reliable clean and it wasn't clunky  like the Facebook messenger app. Another reason why I loved I message was cause of how minimalist it was, it was like a classier Kik counterpart. You see my main gripe with apps like Facebook messenger and WhatsApp  is that they show that you're online when you open the app. Sure some of you might like that and might even consider that as a feature but I just see it as a nuisance. As of late WhatsApp

How Much Data Does Google Have? 2006 vs 2016

I know this is not the type of articles we have on this blog, After all the is the Applesheep not its google equivalent. But theres no denying that google is a major player in today's tech space. Google has their fingers in a lot of pies.Just a quick google search about Google's services and apps will lead you to a list that is very long . But just how has Google's core business grown over the past 10 or 12 years? So How Much Data Does Google Have? So the other day I was uploading a few photos and videos onto google photos, which totalled a few gigabytes, and that got m thinking if Google allows an individual to store as many photos and videos as they want on their sever ( I have about 10400 photos and videos ) how much data does google have in all? So I did some digging and according to most estimates,  Google has about 10-15 exabytes of data . Wait you don't know what a exabyte is? Well 1024 gigabytes make up a terabyte, 1024 terabytes make up a petabyte likew

Why Are Apple Products Getting Cheaper

You probably read that title and just went, What? and then proceeded to re-read the title. Apple? Cheap products? Yeah right. Most people might scoff at the idea of Apple being a budget company, I mean who can blame poor average Joe who thinks that? Apple came out with a phone that literally costs a thousand dollars. So Apple wouldn't be high up on your list of affordable tech companies. But yet we see a growing list of products from Apple that doesn't break the bank. Why is this? What Are These Cheap Products? A few years ago you'd be hard pressed to find a few good Apple products. But over the last few years Apple has diversified it's lineup. Starting with the iPhone SE, A relatively upto date iPhone with great storage starting at $349. More over Apple is rumoured to bring out a new iPhone SE with upgraded internals and art the same price point.  Apple didn't stop at that they went further they surprised everyone in 2017 with a $330 iPad that was at it'

Can We Please Stop Slapping AI In Front Of Everything?

Ai, one of the holy grails of computing, the ability to give a computer the ability to think like a human and to carry out tasks without explicitly being programmed to do so. of late AI has become one of those fancy words that gets thrown around a lot , like bitcoin or blockchain or internet of things. The SmartPhone Is Gravitating Towards AI   AI has been on smartphones for a long time and they used to be in the background making sure that everything ran along smoothly. From analysing your usage patterns to give you information before you ask for it to predicting your search results AI has been with us. But now that AI is art the forefront of mobile technology OEMs feel like they should AI-ify everything. Google is the first to do this but I'm going to give Google a pass on this one cause their AI is the best in the field. So Google really started pushing AI onto their phones and used it as a marketing tool something which Apple was lacking in at the time  and credit wher

The Pixel Has Been Dethroned

Before we dive headfirst into this article I just want to say that I do not consider DxO mark to be the absolute authority on camera quality. Camera quality is subjective and trying to encompass the wide array of factors of a camera into a single number is absurd to say the least. But a vast majority of you reading this do care about  a DxO mark. So How Does The Google Pixel Fit Into All Of This? Recently DxO mark came out saying that the Galaxy S9+ has the best camera ever . The S9+ had a score of 99 just edging out the Pixel 2 which has a score of 98. Just hours later Consumer Reports came out with their own report stating that the iPhone X had the best camera ( This is totally understandable as like I've said camera quality is a subjective thing). But here's the thing that really caught me off guard, if I fully expected Consumer Reports to back the Google Pixel 2 as the best camera out there not the iPhone X( Again not because I think the iPhone X has a bad camera, b

Why is iOS So Restrictive?

In any iOS vs Android debate the point that iOS is restrictive will be brought up. It is a certainty, People will argue that iOS's restrictiveness is a negative and that it is whats holding iOS back. But why is iOS so restrictive why is iOS the way it is. Would we be better off with an iOS that lets us customise to our hearts content? Apple Is A Control Freak Apple is quite insistent on having absolute control over all the facets of its product starting with the software all the way down tot he hardware. This is both good and bad as you've probably guessed this doesn't leave a lot of room for customisation. But on the positive side this does allow for much better software support and an overall better experience. Let me put it this way a few weeks back me and my classmates were working on a deep learning algorithm ( real deep stuff) and I was rocking a MacBook Air while others were rocking similarly speced windows/ ubuntu laptops. Albeit with newer i5 processors. Much
